LIFE
AT MARK
TWAIN
MANOR
|
| |
| Resident rooms
are comfortably furnished and feature security
designs that provide a safe environment. To
make accommodations truly their own, residents
are encouraged to bring in personal items
from home - a favorite picture, afghan, or
chair.
Our patio provides a safe, secure, setting
that is perfect for a friendly game of cards,
conversation, or to just sit and take in
the sun. Inside, TV lounges are provided
for entertainment. A comfortable furnished
lounge, designed for privacy, is available.

A diverse program of social
and recreational activities are offered
on a daily basis. Volunteers and staff join
in and encourage residents to participate.
Creative arts and crafts, sing-along, bingo
and holiday celebrations are a few of the
wide range of activities planned to meet
the residents interests and abilities. Friends
and families are always welcome.
Residents dine in a cheerful,
attractive setting and are served nutritional
meals planned by a registered dietitian.
Residents assist in planning meals to offer
a variety of foods. Alternatives and specialized
diets are provided to accommodate residents.
Activities
Mark Twain Manor's activity
department provides residents with a complete
program of physical, social and mental activities.
The activities are highly diversified and
include such things as seasonal parties,
religious activities, exercise and educational
programs, bingo, craft and crocheting classes,
indoor and outdoor gardening, and a variety
of other forms of entertainment.
In addition, we have special
programming for those with Alzheimer's Disease
and related diagnoses. These activities
are conducted in smaller groups or on a
1:1 basis. Programs include art expression,
relaxation techniques, sensory stimulation,
reality orientation, music and pet therapy.

Many of the special activities
are made possible by a larger volunteer program.
Our team of volunteers is made up of individuals
and groups from the community and family members.
The resident's contribution back to the community
is equally important as the community is to
us. For example, our residents hold a yearly
bazaar, the proceeds of which they use for
their outings. They also volunteer their time
within the facility and to other organizations.
Our residents participate in voter registration,
fundraising events and hosting seasonal
parties for local children. With the use of
our van, which is adapted with a lift, we
are able to regularly attend functions in
the community, such as the Muny and Cardinal
baseball games. |
|
We encourage all residents
to maintain an active role in the facility
and community. The variety and frequency
of the activities offered promote an increased
level of functioning and the opportunity
to lead a happy and active life.
Food Services
|
Mark Twain Manor's meals
are served in an attractive and inviting
dining room. This provides a pleasant
atmosphere in which the appetizing
and varied meals can be enjoyed. Of
course, all meals are included in
the daily rate, and staff are always
present during meal time.
Under the consultation
of a Registered Dietician and the
direction of a certified Food Service
Manager, the facility's dietary staff
plan and prepare nutritionally balanced
meals. Therapeutic diets, ordered
by the resident's physician, will
be prepared according to established
guidelines.

The dietary department prepares
special seasonal and holiday meals throughout
the year and often invites family members.
Guest meals are available if ordered in
advance. Accommodations can be arranged
through social services.
The menus change with the
seasons and vary all month long. This is
just another way that we can make Mark Twain
Manor the resident's home.
